At the 30th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival, Hanna Bergholm's psychological body horror Nightborn won the Cheval Noir Award for Best Film. Lead actress Seidi Haarla received the Outstanding Performance Award. Kasper Kalle won Best Director for No Rest for the Wicked. Pilou Asbæk also won an Outstanding Performance Award for the same film. Andrea Corsini's debut Ferine took home two awards: Best Cinematography for Fabrizio La Palombara and Best Score for composer Pino Donaggio. The New Flesh Competition went to the New Zealand debut Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant. Blaise by Jean-Paul Guigue and Dimitri Planchon became the first French winner of the Satoshi Kon Award for Best Animated Feature.
